Debtor-chasing apps for Xero in Australia, compared (2026)

Start with Xero’s own reminders: they are free and already in your file. Past that, the apps split on one question: who rings the customer. Most send emails and SMS and hand your team a call list. One adds a scripted recorded call. Ours, Office Voice, has an AI make the call, and we say so up front because we built it. Every price below is from the vendor’s own page on 23 October 2026.

Which one, in one line each

You have never switched on Xero’s reminders
Xero’s built-in reminders. Free, and the baseline every app below is sold against.
Customers pay from a monthly statement
Statey, or Paidnice if you also want reminders and late fees.
You want late fees and interest charged automatically
Paidnice. It posts the fee to Xero as its own line.
You sell on trade credit and vet new accounts
ezyCollect, for the credit checks and credit applications as much as the reminders.
Someone on your team already rings debtors
CreditorWatch Collect’s Call Console, or Paidnice Pro, so the calls are queued and recorded.
You want a person to do the chasing for you
Chaser with the Care add-on, or CreditorWatch Collect’s AR Specialists.
You are an accounting or law practice chasing your own fees
FeeSynergy.
Reminders get ignored and nobody has time to ring
An AI that makes the call: ours, Office Voice (disclosed: we built it).
The customer has stopped answering altogether
A collection agency. Read when to call a debt collector first.

The invoice went out on time. Xero sent the reminder. It landed in an accounts inbox along with everything else, and the customer who owes you is not avoiding you; nobody has asked them in a way they had to answer. Out of sight, out of mind. Every app in this market promises to fix that, and they fix it in different ways. This page says which way each one works, from its own pages, including ours.

In short

The problem
Overdue invoices sit in a customer's inbox unread, and the call that would settle them is the job nobody in the office has time for.
What the apps do
Send more, better-timed reminders by email and SMS, add statements, late fees and a payment portal, and give your team a list of who to ring.
Where they differ
Who makes the call: nobody, your own staff from a queue, a scripted recorded message, a vendor's outsourced team, or an AI agent.
What stays with a person
Disputes, payment plans and hardship, credit decisions, and the choice to hand a debt to an agency.

1. The comparison

2. Who actually rings the debtor

Every app here sends a better email. The real difference is what happens when the email is ignored.

Read the “calls” claims closely, because the same word covers five different things:

  • Nobody: Xero’s reminders and Statey are email only.
  • Your own staff, from a list: ezyCollect sends a daily call list, CreditorWatch Collect queues calls in its Call Console, FeeSynergy raises call tasks, and Paidnice Pro rings your phone, connects you to the customer and records the call. The software decides who to ring. A person still rings.
  • A recorded message: Chaser’s Auto-call reads a template you write in a text-to-speech voice. Its page describes pre-scripted reminders, not a two-way conversation.
  • The vendor’s people: Chaser’s Care add-on, CreditorWatch Collect’s AR Specialists and FeeSynergy’s outsourced service put their own team on your debtors.
  • An AI agent in a conversation: Office Voice, ours. It says it is an AI, talks to the customer, sends the payment link and leaves with a date.

None of these is right for everyone. If you have a credit controller, a good call queue makes them faster. If you have nobody, a call list is one more list nobody works. The longer argument for each is in Xero invoice reminders or a debtor-chasing app.

3. Each option in detail

In order from the free baseline to the last resort, with ours second last. Each entry links to the page it was read from.

Xero invoice reminders (built in)

What it does
Emails the customer when an invoice is due or overdue. Xero sets up three default reminders when you switch the feature on, and you can have up to five, timed before or after the due date. Add Xero’s Pay now button and the customer can pay by card or direct debit from the invoice.
Who it suits
Every Xero business, as the baseline. Most need nothing else until reminders stop working.
Channels
Email
Does it ring the debtor?
No
Starting price
No add-on price: it is a setting in your Xero subscription
Pick it if
you have not switched it on yet. Do that first and see what is still unpaid a month later.

Statey

What it does
Sends customer statements from your Xero data on a schedule (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) as PDF or Excel, with an aged debtor breakdown, from your own email domain, with delivery tracking per recipient. Its Xero listing calls it the missing statement reminders feature.
Who it suits
Customers who pay from a monthly statement run rather than from individual invoices.
Channels
Email
Does it ring the debtor?
No
Starting price
AU$15 a month (Starter). 32-day trial, no card. Tax not stated
Pick it if
your customers’ accounts teams ask for a statement before they pay, and Xero’s own statements are not doing the job.

Paidnice

What it does
Applies your payment terms to every Xero invoice: email and SMS reminders from your own domain, automated statements, late fees and interest posted to Xero, payment plans, a branded payment portal, quote reminders, and escalation. It reads replies, records payment promises in Xero and holds reminders until the promised date.
Who it suits
A business that wants its terms enforced in writing on every invoice, including late fees.
Channels
Email, SMS (AUD 0.15 a message), post, portal, calls made by your team
Does it ring the debtor?
Your person does. On Pro, an escalation assigns a call to someone on your team, who calls from the browser or has Paidnice ring their phone; the call is recorded and transcribed
Starting price
AUD 99 a month (Essentials, 150 invoices). Calling needs Pro, from AUD 139. First 20 actions free
Pick it if
you want late fees and interest charged automatically, and written reminders are still your main tool.

Chaser

What it does
Sends reminders by email from your own address, SMS and post on schedules you set, with a payment portal, cash flow forecasting and late fees or early payment discounts. Its Auto-call feature rings debtors with a text-to-speech message read from a template you write. The Care add-on puts Chaser’s people on follow-ups, phone calls and your inbox.
Who it suits
A finance team selling on terms that wants forecasting alongside chasing, or wants to outsource the chasing.
Channels
Email, SMS, post, automated reminder calls, portal

CreditorWatch Collect

What it does

FeeSynergy (for practices)

What it does

A collection agency (for example, EC Credit Control)

What it does
Takes over a debt you have given up chasing yourself. EC Credit Control, as one example, lets Xero users sign in with Xero and load overdue invoices straight across.
Who it suits
A debt where the customer has stopped answering, or disputes nothing and still does not pay.
Channels
The agency contacts the debtor (its page does not say how)
Does it ring the debtor?
The agency does the contacting, not you
Starting price
EC Credit Control: no collection, no commission. $60 + GST debt-load fee; commission 25% of the first $10,000, 15% of the next $10,000, 5% above $20,000, ex GST

Office Voice, Get Paid (ours)

Disclosure: Office Voice is our own product, built and sold by AI Pathway. Read this entry as the vendor’s description, held to the same rules as the others: no claim here that the product does not do today.

What it does
Our own product, built by AI Pathway. It rings the customer about overdue invoices, says it is an AI first, reads the balance from your live Xero at dial time, texts Xero’s own payment link during the call, and leaves with a promise as a date that it follows up on. Disputes and anything it should not handle come to a person. Open quotes are rung the same way.
Who it suits
A business on Xero with invoices past due and nobody with time to ring them.
Channels
Phone (AI voice), SMS payment link during the call, email
Does it ring the debtor?
Yes. An AI voice agent makes the call and holds the conversation
Starting price
$199 a month ex GST, flat. No call caps, no per-minute overage. 30-day free trial; $29 number setup, off your first bill
Pick it if
your reminders are being read and ignored, and the call nobody makes is the one that would get you paid.

Do not pick it if you want late fees, scheduled statements or managed payment plans (Paidnice does all three), a customer payment portal, or credit checks on new accounts (ezyCollect). Skip it too if you are not on Xero, if your customers would rather never take a call about money, or if a debt is already past the point where a call helps, which is agency work. It is not a debt collector and does not negotiate hardship or payment plans; those come to you.

It connects to your Xero file directly. The price is flat: no call caps and no per-minute overage, with phone carrier charges passed through at cost. A higher tier, Recover Pro, adds cadence control and more volume. Practices running a client book get wholesale rates; see debtor calls for bookkeepers.

4. How to choose: five questions

Answer these about your own ledger before you open a single trial. They settle most of the choice.

  1. Are Xero’s reminders switched on? If not, turn them on and wait a month. Whatever is still unpaid then is the problem an app has to solve.
  2. Are the emails being ignored, or never arriving? Wrong contact or a buried accounts inbox is a routing problem: an app that sends to the right person, or a statement run, fixes it. Read and ignored is a channel problem, and only a call changes that.
  3. Who in your business would make the calls? If someone already does, buy them a queue. If nobody does, a call list is a to-do list with no owner; look at the options where somebody else rings.
  4. Do you need terms enforced in writing? Late fees, interest and formal statements are written tools. Paidnice is strongest there.
  5. How many debtors, and how old? Prices that publish are set by invoice volume or debtor count, so count your overdue invoices before you compare. A debt months old with a customer who has gone quiet is agency work, whatever the app.

For the cost side in full, read what accounts receivable automation costs in Australia. For what to automate and what to keep, read accounts receivable automation.

5. Re-check before you sign

Treat the table as a map of what to ask, not a quote. Four questions for any vendor, ours included:

  1. Is that price in Australian dollars, and does it include GST?
  2. Are SMS and calls included at this price, or charged per message or as an add-on?
  3. When a customer says “I’ll pay Friday” or disputes the invoice, where does that go, and does the chasing stop?
  4. When a call is made, who makes it: my staff, your staff, a recording, or an AI that says it is one?

If a figure here no longer matches the vendor’s own page, tell us and we will change it the same week. Everything on this page was read on 23 October 2026.

6. Quick answers

Which debtor-chasing app for Xero actually phones my customers?
Most give your own team a call list. On their own pages, ezyCollect sends a daily list of customers to call, CreditorWatch Collect queues calls in its Call Console, and Paidnice Pro connects your staff member to the customer and records the call. Chaser's Auto-call plays a scripted text-to-speech reminder, and its Care add-on puts Chaser's own people on the phone. Office Voice, our product, has an AI voice agent make the call itself.
Do I need an app if Xero already sends invoice reminders?
Not always. Xero emails up to five reminders before or after the due date, and that is enough for many businesses. An app earns its price when emails are being ignored and you need another channel (SMS, a call, a statement run), late fees, payment plans or a payment portal.
How much does a debtor-chasing app cost in Australia?
Of the ones that publish a price, read on 23 October 2026: Statey from AU$15 a month, Paidnice from AUD 99 (calling from AUD 139 on Pro), Chaser from AUD 399, and Office Voice Get Paid $199 a month with no call caps. ezyCollect (for Xero), CreditorWatch Collect and FeeSynergy do not publish prices. Xero's own reminders cost nothing extra.
What is the difference between a debtor-chasing app and a debt collector?
An app chases on your behalf, in your name, while the customer is still a customer. A collection agency takes over a debt that has gone bad and is usually paid a share of what it recovers: EC Credit Control, for example, publishes 25% of the first $10,000 plus a $60 debt-load fee, ex GST, and charges no commission if nothing is collected.
Which option is built for accounting practices?
For a practice chasing its own fees, FeeSynergy is built for accounting and legal firms. For a practice chasing debtors on behalf of clients, CreditorWatch Collect lists accountants and bookkeepers among its users, Paidnice runs several Xero organisations from one account on Pro, and Office Voice offers practices wholesale rates that scale with the client book.

More on each: Xero reminders or an app, what AR automation costs, overdue invoice email wording and when to call a debt collector.

Technical, and using Claude or another coding agent? Why not build your own? Here’s the open build standard to get you going.
